Ella Hewton - Coxless Crew

Ella Hewton

Fundraising Manager

Age: 23

Hometown: Taunton, Somerset although spend a lot of my time in London!

Job in the “real” world: Head of Making it Happen at Will It Make The Boat Go Faster?

Past adventures/sporting success: My main sporting experience comes from team sports having played football, netball, hockey and basketball for my county growing up. Basketball and football have been my focal sports over the latter years representing Loughborough University.
I have always had an adventurous streak too; I’m a keen snowboarder, have sky dived, bungy jumped, white water rafted on several occasions including the Zambezi and completed Tough Guy. I’m generally up for anything when it comes to sport or adventure!

Why am I doing the row? To be part of an amazing, challenging adventure with a team, as well as pushing myself well outside of my comfort zone to see what I can achieve. To learn, experience something completely different from ‘normal life’ and meet some incredible people along the way. I hope in some small way others will be inspired to take opportunities and challenge themselves to reach for their own potential.

What excites me most about the row? The simplicity and being self-sufficient. Having huge expanses of space and just learning so much about myself, the girls and seeing the world in a different way.

What am I going to miss the most? Showers and being able to run around!

What food will I miss the most? My mum’s cakes!

What am I looking forward to the most? Being in the middle of the ocean, with only dolphins, fish, turtles (and maybe sharks!) to keep us company! Having a dip and seeing some amazing sunsets, sunrises and beautiful starry night skies.

An abstract fact about me:

My power song on the boat: The Killers – Mr Brightside always gets me, as cheesy as that may be!
