Are you woman enough to row the Pacific?
Interested in 6 months at sea…. In a 29ft boat….. with 3 other women?
Then read on……

The Coxless Crew will become the first all four female team to row the full South Pacific Ocean in April 2015, breaking three World Records in the process.

Our aim is to raise over half a million pounds for our 2 charities Walking With the Wounded and Breast Cancer Care.

Our journey will start from Long Beach California where we will be rowing to Cairns Australia via Hawaii and Samoa. The journey will take approximately six months to complete and covering over 8,446 miles.

We have worked hard over the last couple of years to pull together a strong support team. We have an amazing Project Manager, Andrew Brown who has previously rowed the Atlantic solo and an esteemed Advisory Panel to assist in our sponsorship targets. We have a boat, training facilities and a strength and conditioning coach, alongside a Sports Psychologist, Physiology support, sleep specialist and Nutritionist, all in place to assist in our physical and mental training.

With all this preparation, we finally need to secure our team. It requires commitment, determination, both physical and mental strength and most importantly, solid teamwork.

It’s about the person – someone 100% committed to the team particularly during the run-up to the row and someone who copes well in stressful situations. The row itself will involve significant sleep deprivation, sea sickness and constant 2hours on to 2hrs off of rowing, for the whole 5-6 months at sea, so someone that keeps a smile on their face during this, will fit in well.

This row is not a small undertaking and a number of people have found the enormity of the project too big to take on, so please take time to consider and think about it before applying.

Recruitment:

We are looking to recruit 1 female to row the full journey from Long Beach California to Australia and 3 females to row a leg of the journey each i.e. Long beach California to Hawaii, or Hawaii to Samoa or Samoa to Cairns, combined with potential reservation roles for the full expedition.

We are also open to involving women that tie in with our charities, so please still apply if you are:

– A survivor of breast cancer who trains more than 10hrs per week and has returned to pre-breast cancer elite fitness levels, without any on-going surgical healing problems or lymphedema.

– An injured service woman or Paralympian: This expedition can accommodate a lower limb amputee as long as tissue quality is good and well managed, or an individual with a visual impairment. Again, anybody that is applying still needs to have experience of >10hours a week of strong fitness training.
