Leg 2, Day 2 – The return of the sea sickness

After a hectic 8 days back on land we are back aboard our 29ft home Doris. You would think that after 68 consecutive days at sea it would take more than a week for my body to forget how to live on the waves. But no, i am seasick again along with Lizanne. The best way I can describe it is like being horribly hungover but without the fun night before. We are headed South towards Samoa which is currently 2225nm away on a straight line so we are settled in for another couple of months afloat. Our first night was a beautiful one with calm waters and a really bright moon. The mahi mahi fish are back with us and the sun is cooking us gently both on and off the oars. Our newly installed cabin fans are working a treat though. We also had a couple of friends who had departed the Hawaii Yacht Club this morning pop over to say hello on their way past in their sailing boat. Next stop Samoa!

Not pleasant, I am sure you will soon find your sea stomach, if that is the correct term? Pretty good progress in the first 24 hours. A sweepstake for arrival at Samoa might be a welcome diversion. Would I be way out when suggesting 3rd October? I will be very happy to be wrong, should you get there sooner. Best wishes and stay safe. XX

So sorry to hear about your sea-sickness. I’m highly prone to getting motion sickness and I highly dislike every second of it.

How about a good riddle/brain-teaser to get your mind off of the sea sickness?

    Brain-teaser #1:
“I am the beginning of the end, and the end of time and space. Without me there would be no creation, and I surround every place. What am I?”

    Cheers,

One thing worse than seasickness….sitting in Primark. Georgina ( on yr Wall) wants to ruthlessly exploit her father and reckons if she tries 50 things on, then approaches my wallet with 15, I will negotiate her down to 5. Result Georgina. I am sitting on one of the “Dad seats” not concerned that she has died or been abducted, just knowing 2 hours is how long a teenage shop takes. Will swap for one of your two hour shifts it you want.

They have announced a vaccine for Ebola. They have found a piece of wreckage that they think is from MH370; England are destroying Australia. Football season starts this weekend. Mo Farah has been cleared ( so far) of any doping offences and is back to Salazar. Prince Philip was caught on camera saying to a photographer ” Just take the f***ing photo”. What else ? ( still no sign of G, who has been swallowed up by the Primark Black Hole). Seen many sharks……a video to watch of a surfer and a shark when you back on dry land.

Thought for the day: when you get across the equator, the sun goes the wrong way. It crosses the sky from right to left, not the other way…..caught out many a Pommie sunbather. Presumably you already have the Southern Cross ? I am now rambling. My precious time with G is sitting on a bench in Primark……time to kill…..time to write on yr blog……but she is happy.

Hope all well, will get yr next blog soon. Xxx
